Remains of Onokoba (struck by disaster in September 1991)
Onokoba Elementary School was gutted by the pyroclastic surge which occurred on September 15, 1991. The damaged school building of the former school has been left as is. A gingko tree on the school grounds was burned along with the school building, but the tree sprouted the following year, and residents have worked to ensure its survival.
